Decorating for Christmas can be a task. As much as I love decorating, I hate climbing through our crawl space and pulling decorations out. Not only is it a pain, but it makes a mess. This year, since we are soon to be in the process of moving, we decided to try something different. We are going to make some simple yet festive decorations on a budget. Think pine cones, berries and twine- it will be easy and elegant. And the best part? We can toss them at the end of the season. Perfect right? Read more to get some ideas for your own home.

1.      Use Christmas twigs and pine cones around candles. This is an easy way to transform your candles from one season to the next.

2.      Adopt a Christmas tree and root it (or just a branch). I love this idea. The greenery says Christmas with little effort. Its simple, easy and pretty.

3.      Make twig trees. This is a great project with kids. Who doesn’t have twigs laying around the yard? Throw some ribbon on it, greenery or mini ornaments to complete the tree.

4.      Use candles and empty glass jars to create a Christmas centerpiece. Whether you’re a wine drinker and have empty bottles or you have just used up the last jar of sauce- both make great candle holders for Christmas!

5. Make your own ornaments. There are tons of ways to make your own ornaments, but here are a few that can be done without any expense. Upcycle newspaper and create fun whimsical ornaments, or use some extra cookies and attach a ribbon. Either is perfect and festive.

6.      Gather items (pine cones, stars, fruit, evergreen, ornaments) into a glass vase. You can’t really go wrong with your choices. Add some lights for a soft glow. This Christmas decor always looks classy.

7.      Add greenery in transparent bulbs. You can even add some ribbon or berries for a little extra pizzaz! I think this idea could be done for all seasons, doesn’t have to be Christmas to use glass bulbs. Try it with herbs or flower buds in the summer months or with acorns, wine corks, and leaves for the fall months.

8.      Decorate a twig vase (or wall!) with Christmas bulbs and pine cones. This is very, very easy but looks cute. I especially love adding ornaments to dress it up a little bit.

9.      Burlap, pine cones and berries to make a Christmas garland. Garland can come in all shapes and sizes and the options are endless! This is another great project to do with kids that you could change up with the seasons.

10.   Coat hanger décor. Want to hang something on the interior door but don’t want to purchase anything? Easy! Grab a hanger and some paper, or grab some greenery and attach it to the hanger. Now you have instant Christmas décor that is fun and unique. Give it a whirl!
